Sunday Stills Challenge~Best photos 2009

While the red barn of my youth is still my favorite, I combed through my photos to find two different barns or ranches. The bottom one is what I call the "red ranch" which is actually located in Palm Desert, CA! YES! A ranch here in my home town! While it doesn't have a spectacular barn, I love driving by the ranch house. It is in a state of...disrepair...and I'm sure it is scheduled to be torn down, so I try to stop by it every now and then. I like this photo because it shows its "disrepair". At one time, I'm sure it was a lively, thriving ranch. Now, only the wind whispers in its empty shell. Very sad. The top one is a barn near Bridgeport, California. It IS a working ranch and barn and hubby and I stopped there in June, when the fields were blooming. One sad, vacant ranch and another one which is alive and vibrant! Sunday Stills Challenge for January 10, 2010.

Oak Grove barn, sepia

This old barn has been in Oak Grove for many, many years, according to Cathy. Cathy is the wonderful woman who boards my horses in our local mountains. We have driven by it so many times on the way to Julian, CA, and admired it. She drove by one time and it was full of cows! So, apparently it is still used. Sepia Scenes for November 4, 2009.

Rustic barn~Scenic Sunday for 100409

Hubby and I had a short vacation in Northern California last June. We drove to South Lake Tahoe and spent 5 days there. The Sierras still had snow, unlike our August trip. We took a drive every day. On this day, we drove south of Lake Tahoe, out in the country, and found this "rustic" barn. Scenic Sunday for October 4, 2009.

orchard and barn~Scenic Sunday for 092709

Sometimes I just go out driving, armed with my cameras. On this afternoon, I had worked a couple of the horses at the ranch and, since it was a nice COOL DAY (yesterday it was 109 here in the desert...sigh...), I went driving out toward Anza/Borrego on Coyote Springs Road. What an interesting name, right? There were many ranches out that way and this one had an orchard AND a nice red barn! Scenic Sunday for September 27, 2009.

South of Lake Tahoe barn~That's My World 092209

No, this isn't my world, but I sure wish it were! We found this beautiful barn on our June vacation to South Lake Tahoe, where we stayed for 4 nights. We went exploring every day and one morning we came across this beautiful barn. That's My World for September 22, 2009.
