My quest to find barns in the great desert southwest! This is the barn of my childhood. My dad put the roof on it! It is a magnificent barn, still standing in Vista, CA!

South of Lake Tahoe, CA~That's My World 081109
This beautiful barn is south of Lake Tahoe, CA. We found it one morning during a drive around the area. That's My World for August 11, 2009.
What a great barn! We have many old barns in our area, and it is so expensive to keep them up - when the roof deteriorates it isn't long till the whole thing is gone - and all that history is gone. How sad it is to see. Glad to see this one is being kept up. Thanks for sharing.
Gigondas is the name of a big, red French wine, my husband's favorite. So, of course, he named our big, red thoroughbred...Gigondas! And, she is big! Thanks for asking. We call her "Gigo" and yes, she knows her name.

I've loved horses all my life but didn't get my first one until our kids left us with an empty nest! Now hubby and I have 4 horses, 1 dog, 3 cats, and 4 adorable grandchildren. Oh, and two wonderful, grown children! Hubby and I enjoy taking care of our rescue horses and traveling and taking photos.
Beautiful blog you have here! I love the sounds and sights of nature!! Also like to photograph old barns.

ReplyDeleteYou live in a beautiful part of California, Cheryl Ann. I enlarged your photos and they are wonderful, thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteLate summer so there's not much grass about, but at least the sky is as blue as it can stare!
ReplyDeleteIf you need some green in your life, come over and feast your eyes.
Lovely pictures. The horse added a very peaceful touch. By the way, I noticed you have a beautiful new horse, Gigondas. What does the name mean?
